Frequently Asked Questions

Northern Colorado Real Estate Photography

Are you insured for drone photography?

+

Yes. Northern Colorado Photography carries $1,000,000 in liability insurance and operates under a valid FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate for commercial drone operations.

How long do you retain photos after a shoot?

+

All photos are retained for 90 days after delivery. This allows time for any revision requests or additional edits you may need.

After 90 days, files are archived and may be subject to a retrieval fee. If you need extended retention for a specific property, please let me know in advance.

Do you charge a mileage fee for out-of-area assignments?

+

For properties outside Northern Colorado, I charge the current IRS standard mileage rate (currently $0.70 per mile for 2025) for distances beyond 25 miles from Fort Collins.

This rate covers vehicle depreciation, fuel, maintenance, and insurance costs associated with travel.

What's your typical turnaround time?

+

Standard turnaround is 24-48 hours for most residential properties. Complex shoots requiring extensive flambient processing or twilight photography may require up to 72 hours.

Rush delivery (same-day or next-day) is available for an additional fee with advance notice.

What happens if weather conditions aren't suitable for drone photography?

+

Safety and quality are priorities. If weather conditions (high winds, rain, or poor visibility) make drone operations unsafe or would result in poor-quality images, we'll reschedule at no charge.

I monitor conditions leading up to the shoot and will contact you if rescheduling is necessary.

Can you shoot virtual staging or twilight photography?

+

Twilight photography is available and requires scheduling during the "golden hour" window. This service is priced separately due to timing constraints and specialized editing.

Virtual staging is not currently offered in-house, but I work with trusted partners and can coordinate this service for you if needed.

How do you handle window glare and bright exteriors?

+

I use the flambient technique, which combines ambient light, flash photography, and separate window exposures. This advanced method ensures windows show clear views rather than blown-out white spaces, creating more appealing and natural-looking interior shots.

Do I receive full rights to the images?

+

You receive a full commercial license to use the images for marketing the property on MLS, social media, websites, print materials, and any other real estate marketing purposes.

Northern Colorado Photography retains copyright but grants you unlimited usage rights for the specific property photographed.

What should the property owner do to prepare for the shoot?

+

For best results: declutter all surfaces, turn on all lights, open blinds/curtains, remove personal items from visible areas, hide trash cans and cleaning supplies, straighten furniture and bedding, and clear kitchen counters and sinks.

I provide a detailed preparation checklist when you book to ensure the property photographs at its best.

How many photos do I receive for a typical listing?

+

Photo count varies by package and property size, but typically ranges from 25-40 edited images for a standard residential property. This includes key rooms, exterior shots, and important features.

I focus on delivering quality shots that showcase the property effectively rather than padding the count with redundant angles.
